2009 Wilson Tourney Summary by Head Coach Brad Brosius
As sent to Don Lehman

Here are the results of the Wilson Tournament.  The coaching staff felt the kids wrestled
well.  Jacob Gemmill finished second, losing a heartbreaker in the finals!  Jacob was
ahead 4-0 in the second period when he made a mistake and got caught in a headlock
and was pinned.  I don't have all of the pin times or the final team score (posted 26th)
but I believe we finished in 26th place.  Wilson posted the final results on their website.

▪ 95lbs. - Jacob Oliver (2-2)
Jacob won his first match by forfeit when his opponent did not make weight.  Jacob lost
his second match to Nick Cain of Middletown, 12-0.  In his third match, Jacob pinned T.J.
Richard of Daniel Boone.  Jacob then lost a heartbreaker 1-0 to Dante Colonna of Boyertown
East Junior High.

▪ 100lbs. - Devin Sweitzer (1-2)
Devin wrestled three very good matches.  In his first match he beat Dalton Walker of
Brandywine, 18-6.  Devin lost a tough match to fifth seeded Dakota Laughman of Spring
Grove, 5-0.  Devin then lost a hard fought match with Shawn Beamer of Dover, 7-0.

▪ 105lbs. - Darren Gross (0-2)
Darren wrestled well but could not come up with a win.  In his first match, Darren was
pinned by 10th seeded Sklar McCormick of Owen J. Roberts.  Darren then lost his second
match to Adam Brenneman of Central York.

▪ 110lbs. - Seth Clauser (1-2)
Seth won his first match by pinning Cody Mitchell of Daniel Boone.  He then wrestled very
well but could not beat 3rd seeded Jason Brixter of Muhlenberg and lost 14-1.  In his third
match, Seth was pinned by Cameron Crawford of Dallastown.

▪ 115lbs. - Ben Snyder (3-2)
Ben lost his first match to Gray Garber of Boyertown East (not seeded) who placed 5th.
Ben then won three straight matches in the consolations with a pin of Brady DeGroft of
Biglerville, a forfeit and lastly by beating Zach Basom of New Oxford, 6-1.  In the fourth
consolation match, Ben lost to Jason Hardison of Middletown by tech. fall 16-0.  Ben was
one win away from gaining a medal at this tough tournament!

▪ 122lbs. - Alex Moyer (1-2)
Alex lost his first match by fall to 7th seeded Nate Visco of Central York.  Alex then won
his second match by defeating Andrew Zumpino of Boyertown East 6-0.  Alex then lost
his third match by fall to Devon Heffley of Dover.

his next THREE opponents - Tyler Montgomery of Middletown, Alex Grego of Wilson South
and 7th seeded Tanner Reichardt of Schuylkill Valley!  In his fifth match, Kyle lost by tech.
fall 15-0 to Cody Miller of Hamburg.  Kyle had a great tournament and was one win away
from garnering a medal.

▪ 165lbs. - Jacob Gemmill (4-1) 2nd Place Medal

Jacob did an OUTSTANDING job!  Jacob pinned Lee Hartman of Oley Valley in his first
match.  In his second match he defeated David Boone of Boyertown East, 8-2.  In his
third match, Jacob avenged an early season loss by defeating Levi Luchabaugh of Spring
Grove, 2-1.  Jacob then wrestled an excellent match, beating 3rd seeded Joe Lambert of
Exeter 6-3 in the semi-finals.  In the championship finals against 1st seeded Bobby
Hafer of Wilson Central, Jacob took a 4-0 lead in the second period when he made his only
mistake of the tournament which unfortunately resulted in Hafer getting a headlock that
Jacob could not get out of - resulting in a pin!  Jacob's 2nd place is the best finish of a
West York Junior High wrestler ever... in this tough tournament!
