▪ John S. "Moc" Toggas, son of Mary Jane and National, PWCA, District III and
York County Halls of Fame and former West York Wrestling Head Wrestling Coach
John T. Toggas - was inducted into the PWCA Hall of Fame as a coach.  John was
a 1975 graduate of Gettysburg High School and a 1978 graduate of East Stroudsburg
University with a B.S. in health and physical education.  At Gettysburg HS, John was a
3-year letterman, but missed his junior year due to an injury.  During his senior year
in
1975, John had a 12-0 record, but lost a District III match due to a clerical error and was
thus denied a berth in the PIAA Championships.  John was voted the first "Sprigg Gardner
Outstanding Award" at Gettysburg HS in 1975.  At East Stroudsburg University, John
competed as a freshman, but a hand injury surgery ended his ESU career.  Following his
graduation, he coached at East Stroudsburg High School during the 1978-79 season and
was a volunteer assistant at Gettysburg College in 1979-80.  In 1980, John became the
head wrestling coach at Parkland High School, Orefield, PA where in 20 years his teams
logged a 246-129-5 record in District XI.  During that time, John coached 22 District XI
champions, 13 Northeast Regional champions, 14 PIAA State place-winners - including
4 PIAA State champions (Matt Roth, Derek Jenkins and 2-timer,
Jon Trenge).  Five of his
former Parkland wrestlers have earned high school All-American status
.   John was
twice named District XI Coach of the Year.  For 15 years, John served as vice president
of the District XI Coaches Association.  In 2002, John was inducted into the Parkland High
School and District XI Halls of Fame.  In 2004-06
, John served as a volunteer wrestling
coach at Brandywine Heights High School, helping to coach his son, Matt.  John also has
a daughter at Temple University, Samantha... and was the husband of Monica Toggas.
John S. "Moc" Toggas has a loving sister, Stephanie Toggas Leinbach.
